BIMA announces new management team hires

Appointments to strengthen operations and establish new global functions


BIMA has made a series of senior appointments to its Management Team. The hires will support in-market operations, partnerships and global functions as the business grows. 

New joiners include:

  • An Nguyen, Strategic Operations Manager, Global. An is responsible for refining BIMA’s business processes and securing operational excellence across BIMA’s markets, with a focus on Africa. He joins from The Boston Consulting Group, where he worked across Australia, Asia and Europe on consumer goods, mining and retail projects. An holds an MBA from London Business School and a Bachelor in Commerce (Hon) from the University of Melbourne. 
  • Akira Morita, General Manager, Bangladesh. Akira drives improvement and innovation in the local operation, and identifying new products and partnership models. His previous roles include stints as a corporate banker for Citigroup where he managed relationships with global insurers and financial institutions. Akira earned his MBA from INSEAD and also holds Master degree in Public Policy from University of Tokyo.
  • Ren Hooi, Partnership Manager, Asia. Ren supports BIMA’s Asia teams as they expand network of non-Mobile Operator partnerships. Prior to joining BIMA, Ren worked as a consultant at Bain & Company, where she was involved with projects in the telecommunications and consumer products sectors within Southeast Asia. She also has experience with nonprofits and social enterprises including The Rockefeller Foundation in New York and with a renewable energy startup in Tanzania. Ren holds an MBA at Wharton and a B.A. in Economics from UC Berkeley.
  • Craig Fergusson, Head of HR, Global. Craig is responsible for developing and implementing BIMA’s global HR strategy and policies. He joins from UNPRI (Principles for Responsible Investing), where he was Associate Director. Craig has experience working in a global organisation with multiple emerging market operations. Craig holds an MSc. in HR Development & Consultancy from the University of London (Birkbeck) and a PhD in (Surface) Chemistry from the University of Dundee.
